More than 400 drug users, especially in the Ferentari neighborhood and its surroundings, have benefited from integrated services (syringes exchange, counseling, social assistance, primary care, HIV testing, Hepatitis B and C testing, referral to other services) in Caracuda center. These services have also been offered to people selling sexual services, the homeless people, but also to other categories of people in the community. These activities have helped to prevent HIV and hepatitis B and C among drug users. Moreover, the informal group consisting of former and current drug users called “The Drug Activists Brigade” has strengthened, becoming a voice of those who are not heard in the relationship with authorities.
